The Chilliwack Community Arts Council’s annual celebration of arts and culture, Art Under the Umbrella, is set to return to picturesque downtown Chilliwack at Central Community Park on June 10.
Featuring live artist demonstrations and performances, art installations, and an artisan market, the festive event creates many opportunities for artists of all ages, mediums, and styles to showcase their talents.
From dancing and live painting to sculpting and weaving, and everything in between, artists will be showing off their art form live throughout the event. Three-dimensional, mixed media public art pieces will also be on display to express artists’ unique viewpoints and encourage the public to interact with works of art.
Completing the artistic offerings, artisans wishing to showcase and sell their original, handcrafted artwork and products are encouraged to apply as market vendors. Artisans are lightly juried and all types of handmade goods are welcome. Interested artisans may refer to the application form for further set-up details and registration fees. Artisan vendor applications will be accepted until May 12.
New for this year, artists may apply online by completing an application or proposal form found on the Art Under the Umbrella page of chilliwackartscouncil.com. Printed forms are available by visiting the Chilliwack Community Arts Council office located at #20-5725 Vedder Rd.
Art Under the Umbrella runs from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on June 10.
