The coffee will be on and the brushes will be out as the North Okanagan Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists hosts a demo day on Wednesday at the Armstrong Spallumcheen Museum and Art Gallery.
“Demystifying the Painting Process” features four of the chapter’s artists, Juve Furtado, Sherry Kalloch, Gail Short and Terry Greenough.
“It is open to all artists and non-artists alike and there is no charge, although a donation is always graciously accepted,” said Sherry MacFarlane, gallery administrator. “All of the artists participating will be striving to involve the guests and to demystify the painting process.”
Vernon artist and chapter president Furtado will emcee the event, introducing the artists, explaining the projects and handling the questions.
Salmon Arm artist Kalloch will sketch in her journal, demonstrating with art materials and discussing the importance of an art journal.
Vernon artist Short will share her experiences and respond to questions, while Greenough, a Salmon Arm artist and art teacher, will be doing a demonstration and involving the participants in his project.
“The plan is to start with Terry, who will begin at 11 a.m. and work through part of the lunch hour, while Sherry and Gail will end the event, hopefully wrapping up by 2 p.m. — and Juve will certainly encourage questions.”
Demystifying the Painting Process, a painting demonstration and art journal workshop, takes place Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the gallery, 3415 Pleasant Valley Rd., Armstrong. Participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch.
