It is one of the most anticipated events to be held in Chemainus every year. The Arts and Ethnic Fest, an event organized by the Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society, takes place on Saturday, April 9.
“It’s a celebration of the diversity that is the Chemainus Valley with music, dance, comedy and great food,” said Shelley Rouse.
“Various local restaurants provide a wide arrange of ethnic taste treats. “We’re really excited about this year because we’ve got some new restaurants in town and it will be a chance for people to sample what they have,” she adds.
This year the Arts & Ethnic Fest will be held in the Chemainus Seniors’Drop-In Center at 9824Willow Street.
Organizers are also thrilled about the lineup of entertainers that add so much life to the event that is now in its third year.
“There is always a good crowd and we know this year will be no different,” said Rouse. “We call it a gathering of people for pleasure. And we mean it.”
Local vendors will showcase their talent in various mediums and offer their work for sale.
The event runs from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and admission is by donation. There will be several other cultural events happening in Chemainus in April including Tartan Days, a photography show and a concert by Tiller’s Folly on Friday, April 15.
