“It’s All About Love” this Valentine’s Day, at the Osborne Bay Pub, as Pat’s House of Jazz presents the Edie Dupont Quartet paired with a three-course dinner prepared by chef Phillipe Lavoie.
“Edie brings passion, playfulness and an evident love of performance to her live shows,” says a note about the event. “Emotive and engaging, Edie’s voice lends itself perfectly to a wide range of jazz standards, seamlessly moving from jazz to Bossa Nova and back again, switching between English, Portuguese, Spanish and French numbers with ease.
“Edie will perform classic love songs including some heartstoppers from her new album Alegria. She will be joined by Vancouver Island favourites Karel Roessingh, Joey Smith and Damian Graham for an unforgettable Valentine’s Concert.”
Reservations are required and seating is limited. There will be dinner sittings at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. with the show to follow. Seats are $65 per person.

We also got a note about the next in the Chemainus Classical Concerts series. “Beethoven and Beyond” will feature Jannie Burdeti on piano and Rosanna Butterfield on cello on Sunday, Feb. 23, starting at 2 p.m. at St. Michael’s Church in Chemainus.
Praised for her supple phrasing and singing tone (South Florida Classical Review), Canadian cellist Rosanna Butterfield and returning pianist Jannie Burdeti start their program with Beethoven, in celebration of the composer’s 250th birthday.
The rest of the program will delight with some traditional favourites, and also introduce the audience to lesser known, but equally beautiful gems.
Tickets are $20 at the door, with those under 18 getting in for $10.

What is this year? Spamalot, the 2005 Tony Award winning musical comedy written by Eric Idle, inspired by the classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
The show will run from Feb. 26-29 at the T. Gil Bunch Centre for the Performing Arts, starting at 7:30 p.m.. There is a matinee on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 2 p.m.

Lorraine Nygaard Quartet drops by for an afternoon of sultry jazz.
“With a sultry voice that travels easily into high ranges, she is as accomplished in the complex melodies of traditional jazz as she is in delivering the groove of contemporary pop and soul,” say organizers. “Her spirited intonation delivers and delights listeners of all ages. Lorraine will be featuring songs from her Nina Simone Tribute, as well as from her CD On The Edge. Rounding out the band are talented musicians Ashley Wey on piano, Louis Rudner on bass and David Emery on drums.
