Arts Around Alberni: From new show to books you’re going to throw

This, that and the other from here, there and everywhere in Alberni's arts and entertainment scene.

There are only two days left of the Mistletoe Market at the Rollin Art Centre.

Don’t miss this transformation of the gallery into a winter wonderland of treasures. Items available for last-minute gifts include creative woodwork, original paintings, glass art, jewellery, cards, knitted goods, canvas floor mats, photography, soaps, pottery, ornaments galore and much more.

Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The gallery is located at the corner of Argyle Street and Eighth Avenue.

Gallery closed over holidays

The Rollin Art Centre will be closed for its annual winter closure as of Sunday, Dec. 23. The gallery will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013. The Community Arts Council would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.

See you in the New Year.

Get inspired with new show

“Inspirations” is the title of the next art exhibit at the Rollin Art Centre, running Jan. 10 to Feb. 6.

“Inspirations” is an arrangement of photographs presented by the Alberni Valley Photo Club. You won’t want to miss this exhibit showcasing some of our own local photographers.

Come and meet the photographers at their artists’ reception, Saturday, Jan. 12 from 1–3 p.m. in the gallery.

Book donations open Jan. 8

The Community Arts Council will begin taking gently used books for our annual book sale starting the week of Jan. 8. Please drop off all your gently used books in the box located under the stairs at the Rollin Art Centre. Thank you for your support.

Art banners still available

If you are one of the lucky people or groups to have painted a banner for 2012, they are still available for purchase at the Rollin Art Centre until the end of the year for $25.

After that time, the banners will be open for purchase by anyone who would like a piece of Port Alberni to hang on their walls.

Banners will be available to the general public in 2013 on a date to be announced in the near future.
