Longtime resident and local well known artist Shelley Penner is the Rollin Art Centre’s current art exhibitor.
This exhibit features Penner’s popular paintings of nature and wildlife along with detailed paintings on shelf fungi, special pieces you won’t want to miss.
Titled “A Brush with Nature”, the exhibit captures Penner’s love of nature, stating “creativity is her religion”.
“A Brush with Nature” will run until Oct. 11.
First show in decades
Our next art exhibit will be one you won’t want to miss, featuring two local artists, Elspeth Watson and Norm Nicholson. This exhibit will showcase the many new and exciting works from potter Elspeth Watson and soft watercolours by Norm Nicholson.
This is Watson’s first exhibit in more than 40 years, so mark your calendars. This exhibit will start Oct. 16 and run until Nov. 15.
Still room in adult drawing
People have asked us for an art class and the Rollin Art Centre has listened. Local artist Cynthia Bonesky will be teaching a beginners’ drawing class for adults.
This class is designed for people who have little or no experience with drawing, but are keen to try. It will also benefit those with some drawing skills who want to improve. Cynthia will cover the basics of learning to draw using various techniques such as contour drawing, shading, and negative drawing and so on.
Classes run every Tues., starting Oct. 14-Dec. 9, 7 – 9 p.m. Cost $140 for 8 classes, supply list available when you sign up. Please register at Echo Centre.
Last chance to make lanterns
Echo Centre is the venue for our last lantern workshop to learn how to make bamboo and tissue paper designs. Creativity is the key! Upon completion of your own lantern creations, we hope you will participate in the Rollin Art Centre’s third annual Celebration of Lights festival, Sat. Nov. 29.
One workshop is left and room is still available for Wed. Oct. 22 from 6–9 p.m.
Be a part of this magical Festival of Lights event. The cost is only $10 to register and $10 for supplies. Please call Echo to register.
