Romance writers

gather for chat

Authors Sharon Ashwood, Lorhainne Eckhart, Susan Lyons-Fox and Lee McKenzie will be at Cole’s Books in the Westshore Town Centre for an afternoon highlighting contemporary and paranormal romance books.

The authors will be available for autographs and a gift will be given to everyone who stops for a chat.

The event is scheduled to run between 1 and 4 p.m. tomorrow (Jan. 22) at the mall, off Langford Parkway.

Slip into your tuxedos and gowns as the Canadian College for the Performing Arts hosts its second annual Casino Royale gala fundraiser night Feb. 5 at the Hotel Grand Pacific.

The James Bond-themed event will feature cabaret-style entertainment and friendly gaming, along with hors d’oeuvres, prizes and auctions.

Tickets are $55 each and partial tax receipts are available. Tickets are available at the CCPA office, 1701 Elgin Rd. in Oak Bay, or by calling 250-595-9970.

Scottish dancing

The Vancouver Island Scottish Country Dance Society invites all comers to an evening of dancing and ceilidh performances Friday, Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Victoria Dance Studios,  2750 Quadra St.

The event is free and no partner is required. Dancers are asked to wear soft-soled shoes. For more information, visit www.viscds.ca.
