Vine Time

Art in the Vines, a charity event for Langley Arts Council,  happens on Sunday, Aug. 28. at Township 7 Winery in south Langley. This artisanal fair will feature more than 40 artisans producing crafts, jewelry, paintings and local preserves/cuisine, accompanied by live music by two local bands. It runs from noon to 4 p.m. and admission is free. Township 7 is located at 21152 16 Ave. (at 212th St). Email gail@township7.com for more information.

Call to Singers

The Langley Community Chorus begins its fall/Christmas season on Wednesday, Sept. 7. Registration takes place from 6:30 to  7:20 p.m., followed by the first rehearsal, from  7:30 to 9:30 p.m.  All soprano, alto, tenor and bass voices are welcome and there is no audition. On the Fringe

Local playwright and actor Shane Rochon is headed for the Fringe. The Langley man will mount three performances of his original play, Screaming Silently, during the upcoming Vancouver Fringe Festival, Sept. 10, 13 and 14. All three shows will take place at the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Classical Chinese Garden, beginning at 7 p.m.

Before that, audiences can check out Rochon’s play at the Jericho Arts Centre, on Sept. 5, 6 and 7, beginning at 8 p.m.

Maple Goodness

Don’t just sing in the car or the shower — share your voice with the world. The Maple Leaf Singers invite everyone to join their unique show chorus for the 2011 season.

No matter where you live, in or beyond Metro Vancouver, you’ll enjoy meeting and practicing with enthusiastic singers from all over, and performing at a variety of events.
