Seniors art exhibition
The Seniors Art and Aging Artfully exhibition takes place at the Parksville Community and Conference Centre starting Sunday, Oct. 1 – National Seniors Day.
The opening reception for the event runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The exhibition continues throughout the month.

Mad Hatter Tea
The sixth annual Mad Hatter Tea is taking place at Milner Gardens and Woodland on Saturday, Oct. 7.
Attendees are encouraged to wear their best Mad Hat or Alice in Wonderland costume, and enjoy games along with a special full afternoon high tea lunch at Milner House.
There are four costume prize categories for reserved guests, including Wackiest and Most Elegant.
Mad Hatter Tea reservations are required at a cost of $24.95 pre-payment.
Games start at 12:30 p.m. Prizes are awarded at 2 p.m.
Garden admission is $8.25 for adults and $4.25 for students, and free for children 12 and under accompanied by an adult.

Free seniors food skills program
The Arrowsmith Community Recreation Association is holding a free seniors program that teaches food skills on Tuesdays at Arroswmith Hall kitchen on the Coombs Fairgrounds starting Oct. 3.
The six-session program, called Food Skills for Active Seniors, will run 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays from Oct. 3 to Nov. 14.
The program will strengthen cooking confidence and skills while providing the food knowledge to make sound meal, snack and beverage choices. Each session addresses a different topic, including safe food handling and storage, meal planning and healthy snacks.

New QUAC season
The Qualicum Acoustic Café is openning for its 10th season on Oct. 6 featuring local musician, Gary Hodi.
The monthly music and spoken word gathering is open to anyone to sing, play, perform comedy acts, dance, tell stories, recite poetry and more, provided the performers reserve a time on stage.
There are no spots left for the Oct. 6 event, but reservations can be taken for the Nov. 3 performance featuring local singer-songwriter WiL.
Doors open at 7 p.m. with the event taking place at Rotary House, 211 Fern Rd. West in Qualicum Beach.
Tickets are $10, or $5 for those who also perform on stage. Youths enter for free.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. at Diva’s Kandy and Kales.
