The ArtsWells festival coming up in Wells/Barkerville is the quintessential getaway for artists and art lovers on the long weekend in the Cariboo.
Whether you take courses, just watch the entertainment, go fishing, or explore Barkerville just eight kilometres down the road, there is lots to do.
More than 100 musical performances will be featured on 12 stages — folk, hip-hop, electronic, world, pop, roots, jazz, country, funk and more.
There are more than 20 different workshops on offer providing lessons in everything from Ukrainian dance, to lyric writing, to clowning, and so much more.
Activities for kids include a crafting station, a children’s stage and other workshops geared towards children.
There will be screenings of independent films as well as local theatre productions and live theatre offerings in the 14th International One Minute Play Festival.
Visitors can take in one of the inter-genre literary performances and workshops such as storytelling/writing, poetry, and the unexpected; or take a visual art walk around the town of Wells to visit artisans selling their wares.
Discounts to attractions such as Barkerville are available where visitors can catch more ArtsWells musical acts.
