Astonishingly talented Bachands duo on stage at Providence Chapel Saturday

This may be one of your last chances to see them here together as their careers move forward

Barely North Entertainment is bringing Qristina and Quinn Bachand for an intimate evening of music in the Chapel at Providence Farm on Saturday, March 9 starting at 7:30 p.m.

They have lots of Valley fans, who’ve been fascinated to watch as the siblings have developed their own voices, exploring various musical traditions, and massaging such diverse styles as old-time, Celtic, folk and jazz to create their own distinctive sounds.

With Qristina’s shimmering vocals and inspirational fiddling and Quinn’s old-soul mastery to all things stringed, this brother and sister act clearly hit the mark with the music industry earning accolades and international touring opportunities with the likes of Ashley MacIsaac and Natalie MacMaster.

The duo won 2010 Top Traditional Group and 2011 Top Duo at the Irish Music Awards as well as five nominations at the Canadian Folk Music Awards and Western Canadian Music Awards.

They’ve released three critically acclaimed full length albums. With a healthy dose of Celtic and plenty of rootsy goodness, they engage traditional as well as contemporary listeners with jaw-dropping effect.

They artfully meld heart-swelling, stomp and clap Celtic roots with progressive indie folk, with results that are arresting, provocative, stimulating and thoroughly intoxicating. Both siblings are gifted musicians and sought-after instructors.

Quinn, who is currently on his last semester as the Slaight Scholar (full ride) at Berklee College of Music in Boston, will be relocating to Montreal in February 2019. Qristina holds an MA degree in Irish Traditional Music from the prestigious Irish World Academy at the University of Limerick; after six years living in Europe she has recently moved back to Vancouver Island.

Doors open at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $20 in advance at Duncan Music and online at https://barelynorth.tickit.ca/events/5918-qristina-quinn-bachand-live-in-the-chapel
