Auditions underway for Pirates of the Cascadian

Pleasure Craft Theatre's fourth season of live improvised soap opera kicked off Monday with auditions at the Cumberland United Church

Pleasure Craft Theatre’s fourth season of live improvised soap opera kicked off Monday with auditions at the Cumberland United Church.

This year’s theme is Pirates of the Cascadian, a zany, swashbuckling epic adventure that is created before your very eyes.

Pirates, gypsies, mermaids, wenches, privateers, unicorns and cannibals make up the cast of this ever-growing and changing show, with live improvised music and special effects.

This is a long format version of improv, where plotlines and characters continue for weeks on end. Nobody knows how it will all turn out, especially the cast.

If you would like to audition to be a part of the show, drop by the church Jan. 27 at at 7 p.m.

The director is Kevin Flesher.

Doors open at 6:45 p.m. The show is at 7 at the church at 300 Penrith.

Sessions are held every Monday night in February and March.

Admission is by donation. All ages are welcome.

Partial proceeds benefit the Cumberland Community Forest Society.
