One of the premier Australian blues-folk rock outfits is travelling way up north for a tour that brings the band to this neck of the woods.
Recording artists the Murder Mouse Blues Band appear at Lorenzo’s Café in Ashton Creek Saturday as part of the band’s The Thirst, The Hunger and The Horn CD release tour.
The album was featured in the November, 2011 issue of Rolling Stone Magazine.
Founded in 2008 by Adam Morris, a singer-songwriting juggernaut, Murder Mouse has quickly become a national force in Australian music. Joining Morris in the band is multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter and record producer Jon Edwards, who plays blistering harp, electric, slide, lap steel, mandolin and banjo.
“We do some serious genre bending, so our music has touches of country, Irish folk, early ‘50s rock, some Jazz, Bernard Herman/Ennio Morricone type atmospherics, swamp, juke and pre-war nightclub blues. It’s all over the shop, just the way it should be,” said Morris in an interview with the Independent Music Awards, where the band was nominated for Blues Recording of the Year (for the song Apocalypse Blues off the album Fill the Hole) at the ninth annual awards in 2011.
In addition, Australian national radio station Triple J’s Unearth competition recently charted the Murder Mouse Blues Band as the number one roots band for the entire competition. Unearth is contested by more than 20,000 bands nationwide.
