Australia’s laid back singer-songwriter Kim Churchill will be making a stop in Langley during his Canadian Raw_Files Tour.
Playing the Chief Sepass Theatre in Fort Langley on Monday, Nov. 5., the Raw_Files tour offers a unique opportunity to see Churchill in an intimate, acoustic show.
Armed with a guitar, he will play tracks from his back catalogue including favourites Second Hand Car and Window to the Sky, as well as new material written in Canada, the UK, Australia and Germany.
According to his website, Churchill, who is from New South Wales, spent 18 months working on a follow-up to his 2014 breakout LP Silence/Win, but decided to throw it out at the last minute.
He re-wrote the entire album in just one week, and spent another two months recording it in a garage in Sydney.
Weight_Falls, the resulting LP, is “a kaleidoscopic collection that is bound to take both fans and critics by surprise,” his website states.
“What sets Weight_Falls apart from Churchill’s previous releases is its sense of adventure and unpredictability, characterized by chopped-up drum samples, unusual harmonies and moments of disarming lyrical honesty.”
Tickets are $25 and are available through Ticketmaster. Call 1-855-955-5000 or visit www.ticketmaster.ca. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., show begins at 8 p.m.
