Vancouver Island is known not only for having the highest density of cougars, but also the most aggressive cougar population in North America. Author Paula Wild will give a slideshow presentation and book signing in Parksville and Qualicum Beach for her new book: The Cougar: Beautiful, Wild and Dangerous (Douglas & McIntyre) on October 24.
In the book she states that co-existing with cougars isn’t about fear, it’s about knowledge. The new book touches on natural history, scientific research and her many first-hand accounts in the book. She also reveals photos and detailed information on what to do in the case of a cougar encounter.
Wild will be giving a book signing at Mulberry Bush Bookstore’s Qualicum Beach location (130 West 2nd Avenue) on Thursday, October 24 from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a slideshow presentation at the Qualicum Beach Library (660 Primrose) from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call the Qualicum Beach Mulberry Bush Bookstore at 250-752-9722.
Wild will be in Parksville at the Public Library (100 Jensen Ave E) later that evening from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with book sales by Mulberry Bush Bookstore. For more information call the Bookstore at 250-248-1193.
