The deadlines for several B.C. Arts Council grants and scholarships are approaching.
Both project-based funding and awards will see arts students, professional performing artists, arts periodicals and more receive thousands of dollars in support, according to a Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development news release.
For those interested in starting up an arts periodical devoted to publishing forms of artistic expression, commentaries or inquiries, there is a project assistance program to apply to, provided you’re not yet receiving B.C. Arts Council funding.
There are also programs for professional arts training, the development of the performing arts and professional literary endeavours.
Project assistance programs have an application deadline of April 18.
There are also scholarship awards to assist the pre-professional training of B.C. students. The award would grant up to $6,000 per year for post-secondary studies in the arts. That deadline is May 1.
Another award seeks to assist independent media artists with the creation of film, video, audio/sound art and new media. The deadline for that award is May 31.
To award scholarships and grants, the B.C. Arts Council has members of the province’s arts and culture community provide an “independent peer-review adjudication process,” reads the news release.
