Crossroads Ceili, will see a reunion of The Tara School of Irish Dancing and Irish Rover John Reynolds

Crossroads Ceili which takes the stage at the Tidemark Theatre on May 26, will see a reunion of The Tara School of Irish Dancing and Irish Rover John Reynolds.

The dancers and Reynolds first appeared together at the Tidemark in the 2009 production “Journey through Ireland.” The success of that show guaranteed the two would appear together again in the future.

Having recently returned from a U.S. tour, Reynolds is looking forward to returning to the Tidemark and an enthusiastic Campbell River audience.

The Irish Rovers played to a sold-out theatre in Campbell River last October, receiving rave reviews for their highly entertaining show.

The group has been called one of the most successful and enduring Irish folk bands, starring in their own television shows, touring internationally and having many major memorable hits.

Currently the Rovers are appearing on PBS television in “Home in Ireland,” a DVD recorded in their native land and featuring some of the beautiful scenery and landscapes of their home.

As a front man for the Rovers, Reynolds is known for his hilarious humour and great singing voice; a combination that will weave the story of “Crossroads Ceili” and set the backdrop for the brilliant new choreographies the dancers have been working on since last September.

Produced by the Tara Dancers Performance Association, Crossroads Ceili will trace the early beginnings of Irish dancing in centuries past.

At the end of the day on a summer’s evening, people would wander down to the crossroads to share the news of the day, and before long a fiddle would be produced, a song would be struck and dancing would begin.

Show times are 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $19 and $15 for students and seniors.
