Vancouver-based Delhi 2 Dublin is bringing its unique sound to Vernon’s Rarearth Music Fest.

The band (Tarun Nayar, Sanjay Seran, Andrew Kim and Ravi Binning along with new members Jaron Freeman-Fox and Sara Fitzpatrick) takes to the stage at Silver Star Mountain Resort Sunday at 8:15 p.m.

Delhi 2 Dublin’s latest album, Planet: Electrified, was released May 3.

Planet: Electrified is the re-imagination of the band’s last album, Planet: Electric, and it showcases the remix work of many of the band’s favourite producers. The result is a new sound for Delhi 2 Dublin, venturing into electro-house, techno and drum ‘n’ bass.

“We love it. It’s amazing to hear tracks we’re so familiar with done in a totally different way,” said band member Tarun Nayar.

“We’re also really happy to be collaborating with some of our heroes – from world electronica legend Gaudi to tropical hipster Poirier to U.K.-based drum ‘n’ bass heads Shiva Soundsystem.”

The album also features Canadian producers, DJ RSK aka sonicanimation (Rossland), Kashoo (Nelson) and Adham Shaikh (Nelson).

There is also a brand new track called Give It Away, the result of working with two great new fiddle players.

The song is a departure for Delhi 2 Dublin and features big booming 808s, a string section and traditional Punjabi, Heer Ranjha lyrics.

In 2011, the Delhi 2 Dublin crew will continue to take its live show on the road with already scheduled dates in the U.S., the Pacific Rim and Europe.

The Rarearth Music Fest takes place at Silver Star Mountain Resort Saturday and Sunday.

Single and two-day passes are available online at www.rarearthmusic.com, or at the Bean Scene at 250-558-1817.
