Songs recorded more than 30 years ago still sound fresh and relevant when played by Uncle Wiggly’s Hot Shoes Blues Band.
The group, which came together in 1979, wrote dozens of tunes in its first three years. The group plays those songs Thursday (Aug. 25), 8:30 p.m., at the Queen’s.
Uncle Wiggly appeared on Victoria’s fledgling indie scene and was the first group to independently release a vinyl single of two original sides – neither was labeled an official ‘A’ side.
The group disbanded in the early ’80s and most thought that was it for the members.
But they continued playing in other bands and reunite for the show next week to thank the fans who supported the band during the years.
The band describes the music as a generous dose of boogie blues, swing music and good times.
