Described as a band that is “exploding” and “catch(ing) the eye of Victoria’s music scene makers,” by Black Press affiliate Monday Magazine, Isobel Trigger is ready to bring its meteoric sound to the North Okanagan.
The Victoria-based alt-pop/rock band has just released a brand new EP, Nocturnal, and is embarking on a fall tour that brings members to Gindrod’s Riverfront Pub Friday.
Nocturnal marks the band’s first label release with Cordova Bay Records.
Produced by Adam Sutherland (Acres of Lions) and Ryan Worsley (Dear Rouge), the EP features five original tracks, including singles, Dust and Bones and Tiger Shark.
Featuring Felicia Harding (vocals, guitar, and synth), Brett Faulkner (guitar), Kyle Lowther (bass), and Ariel Tseng (drums), Isobel Trigger has also just released a brand new music video for third single, Champion.
This past year has been an exciting one for the band.
In April, it was recognized as Band of the Month by Victoria radio station, The Zone 91.3, and the praise has continued since the release of Nocturnal in August.
This summer was spent playing some respected music festivals including Rock The Royal (a showcase of Victoria’s nine top talents), Tall Tree Music Festival, Rifflandia, and also the Smithers Midsummer Music Festival, which the band headlined.
Earlier this year, Isobel Trigger launched a new initiative inviting DJs to remix Dust and Bones. The winning remix went to Rough Child and the track was instantly added to the band’s YouTube page.
That success led the band to launch a similar contest for its single Tiger Shark, where submissions were received from all over the world (U.K., Germany, Spain, and the U.S.)
The winner was DJ Jonnas Roy from Mexico City.
“With nearly 3,000 listens and 90 likes, it was clear that Jonnas Roy’s version was favoured to win, especially because of the danceable originality in the remix,” reads a release from the band.
Isobel Trigger takes the stage with Bobby Cleveland, an up-and-coming band out of Kamloops, at the Riverfront Pub, Highway 97A in Grindrod, Friday, Sept. 19 at 8:30 p.m. No cover.
