A cast of 52 talented actors and singers from Bayside Middle School will take to the stage at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 to perform the musical Don’t Stop Believin’, under the direction of drama teacher Heidi Benetti.
This description of the musical was written by two Grade 8 students appearing in the performance, Lily Lemieux and Thomas Jungen:
Our story starts in the colourful scene of the Ethel Lampert Community Centre in an old neighborhood. Many teens of all ages go there to hang out after school. They don’t have very good home lives, so the centre is all they’ve got. When City Council members threaten to tear the place down, the kids are determined to keep it open. Two new girls show up for their court-ordered community service. They know they’ve got a chance when one of the kids sees an ad for We’ve Got Talent, a talent show on TV where the winners receive 100 grand! With this money, they could keep their beloved centre open and keep rockin’. Follow these teens, and their amazing adults, on a journey to sing and dance their hearts out to save the centre.
The performance will include dance numbers and singing, as well as acting.
