South Cariboo Community Concerts organizers brought the house down last year with the Abba tribute concert and they’re back at it again.
This time, however, they have the Fab Fourever Beatles tribute up their sleeves.
The band comes to the South Cariboo Rec. Centre (SCRC) on May 14. It will do double duty by providing a spectacular evening of entertainment, as well as serving as the springboard for Western Week in 100 Mile.
Concert night will feature not only the legendary Beatles tribute rock group, but will also include the first performance of the season for the top 10 South Cariboo Idol 2011 contestants.
Fab Fourever promises to take the audience back to the ’60s, as they rock the night away with memorable songs of the Beatles. Live music, vintage Beatles instruments and several costume changes will add to the authenticity of the show.
The band will play their first set from 7 to 8 p.m. and then from 8 to 9 p.m., the South Cariboo Idols will take the stage for solo performances of their own.
Back on stage at 9 p.m. for their second one-hour set, the Beatles impersonators will welcome the winner of the “Beatles Most Fabulous Singer Contest” to join them for a song.
That contest takes place on May 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the SCRC, and is open to anyone, except South Cariboo Idol contestants. For the audition, contestants will be required to sing a Beatles song off of a list of seven songs.
Rob Fry, who is involved in hosting the concert and the singing contest, notes that whoever wins will have to be able to sing in key and in time with the band.
“They will obviously have to have talent.”
He adds the concert is being billed as a family event that will provide room for dancing and plenty of floor seating.
“There won’t be a bad seat in the house.”
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and at that time, a refreshment garden and the SCRC concession will be open, Fry says.
“It will be kind of a social time for people, until the concert starts.”
Concert tickets are $25 apiece and can be purchased in advance at Donex, Didi’s, Work ‘n Play and the 108 Supermarket.
