BEE WOLF RAY will play this Thursday at the Zocalo Café.

Coming up this Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30, is the second of a series of intimate evenings at the Zocalo, featuring the music of one of Comox Valley’s best-kept secrets, Bee Wolf Ray.

On the first Thursday of each month, accompanied by Jack Sigurdson on lead guitar and Corinne Parker on percussion, Bee will showcase her eclectic repertoire of original and cover songs by such diverse artists as Joni Mitchell, Johnny Horton, Leonard Cohen, Steve Earle, 4 Non Blondes and the Boomtown Rats.

Bee lives part-time in Courtenay and part-time on Hornby Island; this gives a unique perspective to her music, which has a unique raw, sweet sound with a soft edge of pleasurable intimacy. Her songs tell fully realized, insightful and often-surprising stories, presented with catchy, sophisticated melodies and unusual, interesting chord progressions.

Helen Austin, founder of the Comox Valley Singer-Songwriter Circle says, “Bee’s singer-songwriter sound is sweet with an gutsy edge that sounds like it’s come straight from the Juno movie soundtrack.”

These shows are by donation. Every first Thursday of the month, stay tuned for an enjoyable evening of intimate singer-songwriter music while you enjoy delicious food and drink at the Zocalo Café.
