Bells ring with Vernon Community Singers

The singers bring a youth chorus and handbell choir to Welcome, Child of Light at Trinity United Church Dec. 12 and 13.

Strains of beautiful Christmas music can be heard every Wednesday night at Trinity United Church, as the Vernon Community Singers rehearse for their upcoming concert.

The 135-voice choir, under the direction of Terry Logan with Marjorie Close, accompanist, promises a diverse program when it brings Welcome, Child of Light to Trinity, Friday, Dec. 12 and Saturday, Dec. 13.

“We are enjoying every moment, and the program promises to have something for everyone – classic, contemporary, and of course some hijinks,” said former Singers’ leader and current member Molly Boyd.

Joining the choir will be Logan’s Chantant Youth Ensemble and the Bell Amente Handbell Choir, under the direction of Trudy McGrath.

“The finale of the concert features all three groups together, and it is wonderful,” said Boyd. “Come and enjoy this vibrant group, sharing their love of music and fun.”

The Vernon Community Singers perform Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. Trinity United Church is located at 3300 Alexis Park Dr. Tickets are $12, available in advance at the Schubert Centre or from choir members.

The choir will also be carolling at Silver Star Village Dec. 20 at 7 p.m.
