Langley Community Music School presents the Bergmann Piano Duo on Feb. 26, as part of Concerts Café Classico. Pre-concert coffee and commentary Elizabeth and Marcel Bergmann begins at 3 p.m., followed by the performance at 4 p.m.
“We are excited to present works that showcase the art of four hands playing at one piano from Schubert’s moving f minor Fantasy to Gershwin’s all-time hit, Rhapsody in Blue,” said Elizabeth Bergmann, artistic director concerts for LCMS.
“The concert also features a new arrangement of West Side Story for piano four hands by Marcel that demands the two of us to perform a type of entertaining ‘acrobatic feat’ as we share one piano.”
The Bergmann Piano Duo’s dynamic and energetic performances of uniquely eclectic programmes have inspired audiences for more than two decades. Their recitals and concerts with orchestra have taken them to many parts of the world, including the United States, Italy, Germany, Holland, Greece and Canada.
They garnered many awards such as first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Caltanissetta, Italy and at The fourth Murray Dranoff International Two Piano Competition and have appeared at international festivals.
In addition to their performing careers they enjoy teaching and working in other capacities of the music industry. Marcel is currently Professor of Music at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ont. and Elizabeth is director of concerts and summer programs at Langley Community Music School.
