Husband and wife duo Bernie and Red perform in Abbotsford on Saturday, Dec. 5 as a fundraiser for the W.A. Fraser middle school band, which is travelling to Cuba in March.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Eagles Hall, at 33868 Essendene Ave., and takes place just six days after they performed for a large audience at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium. That show was a fundraiser for the Royal Canadian Legion in Abbotsford.

Since beginning their entertainment career in the Fraser Valley almost 40 years ago, Bernie and Red have taken their comedy and music show worldwide, through their appearances on cruise ships and in almost every state and province in North America.

Their show is true variety, with lots of comedy mixed in with music from the past five decades.

The couple has a large and loyal local fan base and a reputation for presenting an upbeat and entertaining show with lots of laughs.

They have recorded more than a dozen CDs and have even published their own book, Our Story, which is an autobiography and songbook featuring more than 20 of their original compositions and parodies.

This will be their final appearance of the year for the couple before they head out on their annual winter tour of the southwestern U.S.

Tickets for the show are $10. For more information and tickets, call 604-792-6370 or 604-850-2278 or visit bernieandred.com.

The Grade 8 students who are going on the upcoming trip are also looking for donations of instruments and music stands, as well as cash donations, to leave with the kids in Cuba.
