Hollywood North came to South Surrey Friday morning as a film crew shot scenes for the theatrical movie, Monster Trucks, at Montana’s Cookhouse.
Spotlights boosted exterior daylight during the filming of indoor scenes, while extras criss-crossed in front of the Grandview Corners restaurant, renamed Red Hot’s Neighbourhood Grill for the shoot.
The film – starring Jane Levy (known for TV series Suburgatory and Shameless, and the 2013 movie, The Evil Dead), Rob Lowe, Thomas Lennon, Lucas Till, Barry Pepper, Danny Glover and Amy Ryan – is set for a May 2015 release.
According to International Movie Data Base, the film – described as a combined animation and action movie – is budgeted at an estimated $125 million.
Director is rumoured, according to imdb.com, to be Chris Wedge, who helmed Ice Age, Epic and Robots.
The production, being shot under the cover name Formula M, has been filming scenes in Chilliwack and Kamloops over the past month.
