Williams Lake filmmaker Robert Moberg is premiering his new film, Bighorns in the Junction, tonight Friday, Feb. 20 at the Gibraltar Room.
Moberg’s research indicates that Big horn sheep numbers have declined to almost unsustainable numbers in the Churn Creek and Junction areas of the Cariboo-Chilcotin.
He says a pneumonia virus that comes from domestic sheep is to blame for the decline, along with loss of habitat, poaching and lungworm disease.
“It started out being about why the sheep are disappearing,” Moberg says.
“I have interviews with top researchers in the field of bighorn sheep disease, but the film also has a philosophical element,” Moberg says of the 90-minute film.
“It’s about getting your kids out into nature and why we need the wilderness.”
