Littering and…
Super Troopers 2 was a long anticipated movie for so many people. There have been many times over the past couple of years, after it received its funding from fans of the original, when I’ve asked, is it ready yet?
All of that patience paid off, and Super Troopers 2 is finally a reality. It was quirky, it was fun, and just the right amount of over the top you’d expect. Coming out 17 years after the original, it was pretty unbelievable to see all the same actors. Some of them stuck to their old gambits, which really helped encapsulate the charm from the original movie. There were a few characters that would have been great to see, like the kids driving in the car from the iconic moment in the first movie (“I’m freaking out man”).
Super Troopers 2 is based on a border dispute between Canada and the U.S., so there are a lot of shenanigans that go on between the disgraced highway patrol and the French Canadian RCMP. It was pretty funny to see Canadians from a hilarious U.S. perspective.
The movie scored pretty low on a few different rating sites, but I was happy enough with it. It was fun, hilarious, and had even more quotes that stick. That was pretty much all I was expecting for it. There are a few things that are overdone throughout the movie, like Thorny’s issues that become more of a nuisance and don’t really fit into the storyline. I think they just didn’t know what to do with that character when they were writing the story, but there was no way to get rid of him.
Farva as annoying as always, but the movie wouldn’t be nearly as good without him. He’s an essential character.
The trials and tribulations of the state troopers taking over a small portion of Canada comes with fun stereotypes, and slapstick comedy that is sure to keep people laughing throughout the movie.
I think Super Troopers 2 might cover just about every Canadian stereotype there is. Our French Canadian accents, Mounties, good beer, maple syrup, grizzly bears, and more.
It was fun watching a movie about Canadians, made by Americans. They definitely took it to an extreme to stereotype us and have it come across without being to offensive.
The truth is, I couldn’t stop giggling through the whole movie. This was a fun one to watch in theatres because of the infectious laughter from other people around you, but it was also a great one to watch on the couch with some friends. Super Troopers 2 is the type of movie I could watch over and over, and I’m sure it will become an instant classic like the first movie.
I’ll give Super Troopers 2 six out of 10 popcorns.
