Only a few weeks left to help with this year’s annual book sale. Donations are low, but there is still time to clean out all your book shelves and share your love of books with someone else. Drop off donations (newer books only) at the Rollin Art Centre, inside the main door, under the staircase in the big wooden box. Pay it forward by donating all your books to our annual fundraiser event. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The book sale is Friday, May 12 from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, May 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
CURRENT ROLLIN EXHIBIT
Two talented and unique stylized artists are currently on exhibit at the Rollin Art Centre. Rob Liboiron, an artist who dabbles in many mediums, is showcasing some of his carvings in soapstone, wood, along with some pen, ink and oil paintings. Klaus Joehle’s, a mosaic artist, brings you right into a European cafe with his collection of wall hangings, floor inlays, backsplash mounts and much more. This exhibit runs until April 28.
CALLING HISTORY LOVERS
Please join the Alberni District Historical Society for an interesting evening with writer Michael Layland. This event takes place at the A.V. Museum on Thursday, April 20 at 7 p.m. and is free and open to all. Layland will give a presentation on his latest book, A Perfect Eden: Encounters by Early Explorers of Vancouver Island. He will illustrate his talk with paintings, charts, maps and more. In this coffee table book you will find many local connections, including the stories of Horne, Bamfield, Sproat, Stamp and Mayne. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet an award-winning writer and join him afterwards for coffee and conversation.
CALL TO ARTISTS
What a better way of showcasing your artwork then with your own art exhibit. Every year the Rollin Art Centre puts out a call to artists to give a chance to have your own art exhibit. We are looking for new and exciting artists to exhibit in the gallery while helping to bring more awareness of local art to the Valley. If you are interested in showcasing your artwork in 2018, stop by the gallery for an application. Applications are open to all visual artists or artist groups. Deadline is April 30, 2017, or call 250-724-3412.
