The Envision Twilight Concert Series continues on Friday, July 5 from 7 to 8 p.m. as Boomchix perform in Fraser River Heritage Park.
Janice Dunbar and Barb Wilkins front Boomchix, an emerging roots/country band from Vancouver. The band blends fiddle, guitar, and mandolin with harmonies in an energetic mix that evokes both the Canadian singer-songwriter tradition and the best of foot-stomping country.
July 5 is the second Full Cupboard Friday of the season. The Full Cupboard is an innovative community program designed to raise food, funds and awareness for food banks throughout the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and Kitimat. Through this program, Envision Financial has committed to raising at least $1 million for local food banks over the next 10 years.
On Wednesday, July 10, also from 7 to 8 p.m., Ralph Shaw will perform on the Twilight stage.
Shaw, the “King of the Ukulele,” is a showman with a knack for engaging an audience. His music has been described as hilarious, inspirational, outrageous, touching, and thought provoking.
He also manages to bring alive the true spirit of early 20th Century Music Hall showmanship with his wit, comedic physicality and the voice of a seasoned chanteur.
Twilight concerts take place at Mission’s Fraser River Heritage Park. Admission to the concerts is free.
