Boppin in the Park launches new season June 15

The Seabillys will kick off the first of three free concerts at Douglas Park

Westcoast Celtic band the Seabillys is bringing its upbeat music to Douglas Park on June 15.

The musicians will perform at the band shell as part of Boppin’ in the Park, the first of three free, family-friendly music and dance events being organized by You’ve Gotta Have Friends this summer.

The lineup this season includes the Seabillys on June 15, Does Your Monkey Bite — a disco/rock/80s/new country band — on July 13, and Six Gun Romeo — a rock ‘n roll band — on Aug. 10. All performances will run from 6 to 8 p.m.

You’ve Gotta Have Friends is a non-profit organization funded by United Way and various community grants and donations. Its objective is to create a community of inclusiveness and belonging.

In addition to Boppin’ in the Park, the organization also hosts a book club, a creative writing group, senior moments, breakfast with friends and a coffee and connecting drop in at its office in McBurney Lane, 20510 Fraser Highway.
