Kick-off a great start to the summer with a day of fun for the young and the young-at-heart alike. The 16th annual Mission Arts Council Children’s Festival and Pirates Faire offers music, dance, juggling, games, numerous art workstations, pony rides, bouncy balloon and smiles and laughter all around.
Attractions include a workshop in Clay Arts presented by Molly Magid Mission Clay Studio, a Mendhi Station featuring the beauty of traditional henna art, a storytelling tent presented by Mission Library, Imagination Station, where kids can create wild and imaginative hats, face-painting stations, whacky hair spray colouring stations, and the Mission Fire Service interactive tent.
A few tips for parents:
• Dress for the weather. Rain or shine, the festival will go on!
• Be safe and courteous. Don’t forget the buddy system! All children must be accompanied by an adult.
• Plan your day. There is a lot to do and see. In addition to all of the great festival shows and activities, you never know what creative fun will happen at the festival, so leave a little time for the unexpected.
In addition to the event, have a walk around beautiful Fraser River Heritage Park and enjoy the vistas of the Fraser River and Sumas Mountain.
The Children’s Festival runs all day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Don’t forget to come as a pirate!
