Look out for up and coming community and entertainment events in the Lakes District

Congratulations to the winners of the Lakes District Arts Council’s door prize draw at the 29 Annual Lakes District Craft Fair. The lucky winners were: Steven Cox, Lee Christiansen and Eva Kalhood. Each winner received a flex pass good for four admissions.

Remember arts council tickets make great gifts and great stocking stuffers for friends, family members or work colleagues.

Tickets to all remaining performances in are available from now until Christmas and all season long, at Process 4 circle arts Gallery.

On Dec. 10 the Burns Lake and District Seniors Society is holding a Christmas dinner and dance for members and folks 50 plus at the Decker Lake Hall. It will be $15 per person for a catered supper, music and dancing.

The Lakes District Community Choir’s annual Christmas Concert, ‘Hallelujah, When a Child is Born’ takes place on Dec. 11 at 2:30 p.m. at the Immaculata Church. Admission is by donation .

The Lakes District Secondary School (LDSS) drama department presents, ‘The Knights of the RAD Table,’ a comedy featuring young people who travel back in time to the days of King Arthur. The production by the LDSS Grade 9 and 10 drama class is directed by Rayanne Charlie. Shows begin at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 and Dec. 15 on the LDSS main stage. Admission for adults is $5 and it’s $2 for under 12.

The Root Cellar is hosting a Christmas concert featuring local artists and singers on Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 per person and $5 for children. The Beacon Theatre presents the most popular ballet of all time, ‘The Nutcracker’, on Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. The production comes to the big screen direct from the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow, one of the world’s most prestigious and famous ballet companies, just in time for Christmas.

You will want to see this wonderful performance, with Tchaikovsky’s timeless, gorgeous music and the wonderful ballet story of Clara, Herr Drosselmeyer and The Mouse King, and famous melodies such as the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Waltz of the Flowers, the Russian Dance, Chinese Dance, Arabian Dance and more. A perennial Holiday favorite, right here in Burns Lake.
