The ultimate tribute to two iconic duos — The Everly Brothers and Simon and Garfunkel — is coming to the Chief Sepass Theatre in Fort Langley on March 5.

Byrd Dawg and the Vintage Electric Band, starring Joel Dietrich and Wayne Rempel, will be playing familiar hits All I Have To Do Is Dream, Wake Up Little Susie, Bye Bye Love, The Boxer, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Mrs. Robinson, The Sound of Silence and more.

Both Rempel and Dietrich are from Aldergrove.

“Wayne and I have played in bands together over the years,” said Dietrich. “We had reason to learn backing harmony vocals when playing behind another tribute artist. During that time we discovered that our voices blend well together, and we found a real enjoyment in singing together. If I recall correctly, it was Wayne who had the idea of trying some Everly Brothers songs, just for fun. So we learned a few, and that lead to a few more, and it built from there.

Rempel adds, “A few years ago we were backing an Elvis tribute artist (Steve Elliott) and doing a lot of back up singing. We found out at that time that our voices had a nice blend and we thought some Everly Brothers songs might be a nice fit to go with the Elvis. After that we continued learning more of the Everly’s songs and have developed it into the tribute it is now.”

The band includes another Aldergrove resident, Steve Labish on bass. Gord Davies is lead guitarist, Dave Alexander plays keyboards and drummer is Sean Lang.

Show begins at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday, March 5.

Tickets are $39.50 and are available online at OnTourTickets.com, by phone at 1-855-411-7500 or in person at Sweetgrass Naturals, 23343 Mavis Ave.
