The 100 Mile Performing Arts Society is “calling all directors,” looking for new ideas and talent.
For the first time, the local community theatre group is hosting two nights of interviews for aspiring directors to pitch play ideas for its upcoming season, fall 2015 to spring 2016.
While the group has attracted a number of new actors in its last couple productions, this call for directors will help make the local theatre scene more inclusive and organized, explains society president Renee LaRochelle.
“It’s almost like an audition. Once we see who is interested in putting on a show, we will look through it, see what makes sense, what we can support, and by the end of May, we will be able to tell the community [our schedule].”
The interviews take place May 5 and May 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church on Blackstock Road in 100 Mile House. Applications can be downloaded on the 100 Mile Performing Arts Society website or picked up at Gold Rush Technologies on Birch Avenue in 100 Mile House.
“We’re trying to make it a very gentle, safe way to become a director and to get involved with performing arts, if you’re not already,” LaRochelle adds.
