Missoula Children’s Theatre is looking for local children to present Treasure Island.

Auditions for the Missoula Children’s Theatre’s first production of the new year will soon be underway.

School District 72 and the Missoula Children’s Theatre will present Treasure Island, an original adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s epic novel.

Auditions will be held at Penfield Elementary on Mon., Jan. 31 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

There are approximately 50 roles available for students from kindergarten to Grade 12.

The story of Treasure Island follows young Jim Hawkins, who while waiting tables in the family inn, finds a treasure map and with the villainous pirate Long John Silver as his seeming mentor, sails uncharted seas with only the ragged map and a flock of gulls as guides.

Any students interested in performing in the play should arrive at the audition five to ten minutes early and be prepared to stay for the full two hours. Some selected students will be asked to stay to rehearse the evening of Jan. 31, after the audition. All students must be prepared to attend rehearsals at various times throughout the following week, as well as both performances. For more information, please contact Steve Koebel at 250-923-4251.

Showtimes for Treasure Island are: Sat., Feb. 5 at 3 and 7 p.m. at the Tidemark Theatre. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the theatre box office or by calling 250-287-PINK.
