The Pacific Fleet Dixie Jazz Ensemble will be performing in Campbell River in support of the local cadet youth programs.
This ensemble consisting of vocals/clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, sousaphone, guitar/banjo, and drums, is dedicated to the performance of early jazz standards known as Dixieland music.
With its upbeat and crowd-pleasing renditions of musical hits such as Louis Armstrong’s When the Saints Go Marching In, this group is a favourite amongst audiences of all ages.
Pacific Fleet Dixie will be performing in the Campbell River Baptist Church auditorium on Thursday, March 3 at 7 pm.
Admission to the show is by donation, with proceeds going to support local cadets.
Sea Cadets is a program that provides opportunity and fosters the development of leadership skills, good citizenship and physical fitness through fun, challenging, well-organized and safe activities for youth aged 12-18.
Canada’s motto, A Mari Usque ad Mare (“From Sea to Sea“) can be applied to Sea Cadets, who specialize in sailing, seamanship, shipboard life, naval communications, power boat handling, boat repair, marine engineering and have an interest in the activities of the Royal Canadian Navy. Our city Motto (“Enriched by Land and Sea”) describing Campbell River’s situation and fortune is another good reason to instil a maritime perspective on young people in our community who may find future employment or recreation locally.
The Sea Cadets program is always looking for new members, so youth aged 12 -18 can come and check it out.
The Navy League of Canada – Campbell River branch is a non-profit, volunteer organization and a registered charity.
League members (mostly cadet parents) ensure financial, accommodation and transportation support for the Sea Cadet program and services that are not provided by the DND.
This is a low barrier youth program; all core activities are no charge to the cadets.
