The first annual Canadian Songwriting Competition opened for entries Oct. 1.
The CSC is only for Canadian citizens and residents but includes 14 genre categories which include: Francophone, Aboriginal, and Celtic/Maritime, Pop, Roots, and more.
Entries will be judged by a roster of Canadian music industry heavyweights, tastemakers that represent all aspects of the Canadian music business, including booking, A&R, publishing, and music journalism.
There’s more than $30,000 up for grabs in cash and prizes. The grand prize includes cash, a return flight anywhere within Canada, studio time at Noize Factory, a “business builder” package from media partner Canadian Musician, accounting services, and more.
Proceeds from the Canadian Songwriting Competition will go towards the Foundation for After School Talent, a Canadian charitable foundation with a mandate to provide grants to low-income families for their children’s extra-curricular activities.
