Food is not the only thing being cooked up at this year’s 51st annual Vernon Winter Carnival.
Kids of all ages will be able to indulge in something a little different with the Magic and Mystery Show, scheduled for Feb. 12 at the Vernon Recreation Centre auditorium.
The inaugural family-friendly event features master illusionist Rick Shadows and his lovely assistant, Michele, performing mystifying acts of magic and illusion.
Their show will be followed by veteran hypnotist Jason James and his hilarious hypnotic antics where audience members are the stars.
The show is suited to those five years of age and older, however, participants must be at least 12 years old to take part in the hypnosis portion of the event, said organizer Cat Wells, who is also hosting the Winter Carnival Blues Festival that night at the rec centre.
“There will also be food and other vendors, including local artisans, present so you can enjoy a family lunch, grab a snack, shop and enjoy live entertainment all under the same roof,” she added.
The event starts at 12:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and children and are on sale now at the Vernon Winter Carnival office, 3310 – 37th Ave., online at www.vernonwintercarnival.com, or call (250)-545-2236.
