“We are so pleased to have a A-Listers such as Casey Affleck and Black Bear Pictures choosing to shoot in the Okanagan. Once again the profile and potential of the region just keeps growing and growing,” said Jon Summerland, Okanagan Film Commissioner.

Affleck, best known for his acting career (The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, Gone Baby Gone), recently won Golden Globe and Critics Choice awards for his work in critical and box office sensation, Manchester By The Sea, for which Affleck is currently nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor.

The film co-stars Anna Pniowsky (Wait Till Helen Comes, The Gabby Douglas Story), and is produced by Teddy Schwarzman (The Imitation Game, Gold, All Is Lost), whose production company, Black Bear Pictures, has been nominated for nine Academy Awards, seven Golden Globes, 10 BAFTAs, and premiered films at such prestigious festivals as Cannes, Sundance, Venice, Telluride, Toronto, New York and London. Black Bear also owns Elevation Pictures Corp., a leading Canadian film and television distribution company.

Light of My Life will be shot on certain roads, wooded areas and a house in and around Osoyoos. While plot details are being kept under wraps, this independent film is a survival drama that follows a father and daughter who are trying in the woods while being hunted in a post-pandemic world.

“We are honored to be bringing Light of My Life to Osoyoos. The Okanagan region’s character and landscape is incredibly unique, and a perfect fit for our film. We look to our shoot, and creating minimal disruption for the residents and neighbours of Osoyoos,” said Schwarzman, on behalf of the production.
