Casting calls for dancers for Abbotsford production

Find My Way to be staged in the fall by Mary Boonstra

Auditions take place Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 9 for a production being staged in Abbotsford this fall.

Dancers and principals ages eight to adult are needed for the show titled Find My Way, which is being written and staged by Mary Boonstra of Abbotsford and her company Groove Force Productions.

Boonstra, herself a dancer and choreographer, was first inspired by the show Movin’ Out, which she saw in New York in 2005.

Following that concept, she created and wrote Find My Way, which tells a story entirely through dance.

“Find My Way follows the lives of four characters who face hardship and struggle to find a way to carry on,” Boonstra said.

“The show is meant to inspire audiences and show people that they have the power to overcome hardship. Everyone will experience something painful in their lives. It’s something we can all relate to.”

Boonstra said she is excited to highlight local talent in the show, and hopes to fill as many roles as possible with dancers from the Fraser Valley.

Find My Way will also raise money for local non-profits, the result of Boonstra’s commitment to giving back to the community.

The show will be staged Nov. 26 and Dec. 3 at 2 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Auditions take place at Dance in Motion. To confirm a spot and receive a registration package, send an email to auditions@grooveforce.ca.
