Murder takes a hilarious turn in the latest Cawston Players production, Ravenscroft.
This is the first dark comedy the group has performed, according to director Dave Cursons.
“It was a perfect fit for our very talented ensemble of actors,” he said. The play was written by Don Nigro in 1991.
“This is a play that has been great fun in rehearsal and is going to be great fun for our audiences.”

Ravenscroft is set in 1905 Britain in a remote Gothic mansion.
Local actor Josh Brown plays Inspector Ruffing, a no-nonsense policeman.
The Ravenscroft household, composed entirely of female characters, “beguiles, bedazzles and befuddles” the detective’s efforts, which leads to some very entertaining twists, Cursons said.

Actors Alexis Ward plays the young suspect, Gillian, while Gabriele Cursons is the governess. The lady of the house is played by Sue Wolfe with Rachel Gurevich as the maid, Dolly. Amanda Elyzen is Mrs. French, a cook and housekeeper.
The performance takes place on May 24, 25 and 26 at The Cawston Community Hall at 8 p.m.
