“I-i-i-i-i-ttt’s The Irrelevant Show!!!”
CBC’s multi-award winning comedy hit The Irrelevant Show is coming to B.C. for only the second time in its seven-year history.
And it will be in Duncan at the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre for a night of non-stop laughter, Friday, March 24, at 7:30 p.m.
The cast of The Irrelevant Show are some of the most talented comedy performers in Canada, and as everyone knows, we’re famous for our comedians.
Mark Meer, Donovan Workun, Jana O’Connor and Neil Grahn serve up a buffet of comedy sketches and songs that range all over the funniness map, from the everyday to truly surreal.
With scenes about family life, dating, relationships and the workplace, The Irrelevant Show offers an irreverent but hilarious take on pop culture — from the news, to ads, to game shows, to superheroes.
On this tour, The Irrelevant Show cast will showcase 20 of the best sketches of the past seven years.
“We offer something for every comedy taste,” promises producer-director Peter Brown. “There are so many styles and points of view, that the show completely changes subject and tone from one sketch to the next. When I ask audience members which sketch was their favourite, I often get 10 different answers. It’s great to see the sketches resonating with so many different people.”
Before the upcoming performance in Cowichan, Brown has invited Valley folks to vote for their favourite Irrelevant Show sketches and also provide some fun Cowichan facts by visiting the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre’s Facebook page and look for the posts titled “Cowichan Fun Facts” and “Vote for your favourite sketch.”
Comments will be collected and provided to the comedy troupe who will then tailor the show to fit Cowichan.
Be in the audience to see a personalized sketch unfold and laugh along as the cast gives Cowichan the Irrelevant touch.
Tickets are $34 for adults, with a few eyeGO seats for $5 each available to card carrying students who pick them up in person from the Cowichan Ticket Centre.
