With a fantastic lineup of female comediennes, I Am Woman! Hear Me Laff! is returning to the Cultural Centre on International Women’s Day, March 8.
This ‘herlarious’ show makes for the perfect girls’ night out, and really lets you celebrate the things that make women so incredible.
The Chilliwack Arts and Cultural Centre Society has brought a dynamic lineup of comediennes together, who are nothing short of witty, wacky, and womanly for the seventh instalment of this annual tradition. It’s guaranteed to be a marvelous evening of female empowerment, support, and best of all, laughter.
The night’s headlining comic will be writer, actress, comedienne, and mother Kate Davis. Taking her experiences as a mother of three, Davis takes the moments of her life and turns them into something that others can not only laugh about, but relate to.
She strongly believes in supporting other women, even if they’ve made different choices along the way, and that makes her comedy something you can easily connect with. A five-time nominee of the Canadian Comedy Awards, and star of her own hour-long comedy special on CTV and the Comedy Network, she has appeared on Breakfast television, Star TV, Toronto 1, Prime, WTN, TVO, CBC Radio One “The Debaters”, and The Mom Show. With I Am Woman! Hear Me Laff! being on International Women’s Day, Davis said that she’s “looking forward to an evening full of laughter where we can celebrate what it is to be a woman and all that we do as women.”
Multi-talented classical pianist and ever hilarious Sarah Hagen turns host as she starts the night off as the fabulous emcee. After being warmed up for a night of laughter, opening act Katrina Bennett will take to the stage with a magnificently honest commentary, mixed with her own personal experiences. A silver medalist in BC’s Funniest Female Contest in 2014 and 2015, Bennett is someone who will tell you how it is, and then some.
Also performing will be the returning Larke Miller who has created her own style of stand-up comedy by marrying her wit and innocent charm into a combination that is sure to have you howling. Generally regarded as being funny for a woman, and attractive for a comedienne, Miller uses her femininity and baby doll voice to her advantage, and makes her comedy something truly unique and special. She has won a number of comedy contests, including the Shifting Baseline contest, and was even a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Perhaps the biggest highlight of Miller’s stand-up career to date was performing on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Miller is a comedienne you won’t want to miss.
