Celtic folk festival favourites Early Spirit live at Tractorgrease in Chilliwack

Vancouver-based folk-rock band caps off stellar year with live performance in Chilliwack on Dec. 28

Celtic folk-rock powerhouse Early Spirit is coming to Tractorgrease in Chilliwack on Dec. 28.

The Vancouver-based band – featuring Jay Knutson (Spirit of the West), Ben Kelly (Carmanah, Fish & Bird), Gabriel Dubreuil and Will Chernoff – will celebrate a year full of highlights that night.

In the summer, Early Spirit performed on the main stage of Salmon Arm’s Roots and Blues festival to rave reviews.

The festival’s artistic director, Peter North, called the band “one inspired quartet […] exceptional instrumentalists, fine singers armed with a deep songbook.”

The band also toured Vancouver Island, southern Manitoba, and the Lower Mainland in support of their 2018 debut album, Unrelated. This year, they delighted audiences at the Filberg Festival, Festival du Voyageur, Harrison Festival, and more.

Early Spirit’s singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Jay Knutson, was a founding member of the seminal Canadian band Spirit of the West. He brings a wealth of experience and engaging stories to the stage, continuing to let the good times roll with his newest project.
