Thanksgiving is such a great time to celebrate the abundance of the harvest season. Ripe for the picking are the variety of concerts, theatre and magic coming to town in the next two weeks.
Before John Lennon found fame in The Beatles, he formed a band with a few of his fellow school mates called the Quarrymen. Rod Davis was another founding member of the Quarrymen, and this Thursday is your chance to see Davis perform live at the Best Western Vernon Lodge.
You’ll hear him reminisce about his early experiences with Lennon, and the sounds of the late ‘50s as Davis delves into his rich musical history.

Penticton-based singer Adam Fitzpatrick, recently crowned grand champion and people’s choice at the 2014 at the Las Vegas Elvis Festival, is on stage at Trinity United Church for a fundraising performance Friday.
Known locally for his past performances with the Louisiana Hayride Show, Fitzpatrick has been making waves since going out on his own with his award-winning tribute to the King.
The concert is in support of The Salvation Army Children’s Home in Mazatlan, Mexico. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Ticket Seller.
The Okanagan Symphony Orchestra is on stage at the Performing Arts Centre with Canadian violin sensation Martin Beaver for their performance of From the New World Oct. 18.
In celebration of Sibelius’ 150th birthday, the program includes Sibelius’ Finlandia, Op. 26 and Violin Concerto, Op. 47 in D Minor, and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, Op 95 in E minor.

On Oct. 22 Canadian singer/songwriter Murray McLauchlan is on stage at the Performing Arts Centre at 7:30 p.m. He’s been in the business for over 40 years and during that time has released 18 albums and collected 11 Juno awards. His familiar songs include Farmer’s Song, Down by the Henry Moore, Whispering Rain, Sweeping the Spotlight Away and many more. On Oct. 23, prepare yourself for the mind-bending antics of illusionist and magician Vitaly.
In his Evening of Wonders show, you’ll witness new and original illusions that even leave magicians bewildered.
He’ll scrub your photo off your driver’s license and replace it with his own; he brings paintings and drawings to life, and he demonstrates object levitation and teleportation.
Vitaly’s illusions defy logic and belief.
