Nature usually provides us colour in spades. Fresh and sparkling snow in the morning, the first blooms of spring, the rich greens of the forest, Kalamalka Lake glowing under a blue, summer sky – these are the things that charge my batteries.
Getting through the February stretch of this dreary winter is going to involve more help than Mother Nature is willing to give. The good news is that, in addition to the Olympics and Winter Carnival, there are all sorts of fantastic events packed into this short little month that are sure to provide a healthy dose of colour.
This afternoon, Canadian pianist Ian Parker is on stage at the Performing Arts Centre.
He started taking piano lessons from his father at just three years old, and now has a master’s degree from Juilliard and a host of awards under his belt.

The 54th annual Vernon Winter Carnival is set to take place Feb. 7 to 16.

Godspell is the musical version of the gospel of St. Matthew by composer Stephen Schwartz (Wicked). This celebration of spirit comes to the Vernon Performing Arts Centre from New York’s Moonglow Entertainment and Toronto’s Drayton Entertainment as part of a national tour.
