Join the Chilliwack Community Drum Circle on June 17 for an exuberant and illuminating drumming event.
They meet twice per month for a drop-in musical social, harnessing community, recreational and therapeutic benefits through drumming.
On Friday June 17, the group will be joined by renowned drummer Boris Sichon. He began his study of percussive instruments in the Ukraine, and graduated from the Academy of Music in St. Petersburg. He worked in the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, and went on to Moscow to work as a stage musician, dancer and actor.
Over the next several years, he performed in 25 countries across five continents, amassing and learning to play a collection of more than 200 rare and unique traditional instruments.
Since coming to Canada in 2004, Sichon has performed with established and esteemed musicians, led workshops and written for musical theatre.
In the Chilliwack drum circle on Friday, he will showcase musical instruments from Eastern Europe as well as rhythmical patterns from various social functions. Join in the power of guided group drumming with this energetic and gifted performer and teacher.

The event takes place June 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre. The fee is $20 for adults, $10 for students. Payment can be made at the door by cash or cheque.
