The chart-topping, three-time Grammy award winning Christian rock band Jars of Clay will be performing at this year’s Abbotsford Agrifair.

The group will perform on Sunday, Aug. 4.

Jars of Clay’s sound is a blend of alternative rock, folk, acoustic and R&B that is enjoyed by both the secular world and Christian community.

Lyrics, based on the personal beliefs of the band members, inspire without being overly laden with biblical scripture.

Jars of Clay celebrated their 18th year together in 2012, and have written over 100 songs, made ten studio records and toured internationally.

They also created Blood:Water Mission, an organization dedicated to providing clean blood and water for African nations.

The band will release their new album Inland on Aug. 27. It will be the bands 11th studio album and the first to be released on their newly-created record label Gray Matters.

The band is comprised of Dan Haseltine, Steven Mason, Charlie Lowell and Matthew Odmark, who released their first full-length studio album Jars of Clay in 1995.

“This is big for the Agrifair,” said Pamela Brenner, Agrifair general manager. “We expect Agrifair grounds will be packed Sunday evening.”

Those who want to ensure themselves a spot at the show can attend the free pancake breakfast, being put on by Psalm 23 Transition Society, at 8 a.m. the morning of the concert. One thousand priority tickets are set to be handed out  to hungry fans at the breakfast.

After the pancake breakfast, round the family up and attend church cowboy, cowgirl or little-wrangler style with Jack Jackson at his evangelistic “Cowboy Church Service” or hear praise and worship from Abbotsford’s various church youth groups.

Agrifair will be chock-full of entertainment, food and fun for everyone all weekend long. Be on the lookout for KidZone, featuring chuckwagon-loads of free activities for “youngins” of all ages. Check out the “Wild, Wild West” Agrifair themed Lego creation and behold the “Creation Museum” including an interactive dinosaur exhibit.
